USE AN EXTERNAL MICROPHONE

Tired of making videos that have a hollow or distant sound? Try using an external microphone to capture better sound. You'll need a camcorder with an external "mic" input & an external microphone. By placing a microphone near your subject you'll be able to add audio details & clarity to your projects. Also, a good pair of headphones will help you hear what you're recording.

THE TRIPOD IS YOUR BEST FRIEND

After your camera, the most important tool you have is your tripod. Nothing distracts your viewer's attention away from your message like shakey shots do. Not only is it important to use the tripod, but equally important is to know the correct way to use one.

NATURAL SOUND

Here's a tip that will really pull your viewer into your story. Try adding the environmental sound at your shoot location to your videos. This is called using "Nats" or natural sound. It really helps us feel like we're really there where the story takes place.
